Test Record at The Oval
« on: July 31, 2017, 08:30:04 PM »
I am sure I can't be the only person to pick up on this, but in South Africa's 2nd innings there were 4 golden (first ball) ducks. This was a test match record, beating the previous highest of 3 which had been achieved 10 times.

I am sure you will be reminded of this in Tuesday's papers!

very very funny.  I heard it live and knew immediately where they were going with it.

Was at the game yesterday. I think the second first class hat trick I have seen. I recall seeing Sylvester Clarke do it at Colchester?

Think Sylvester Clarke did four in five balls for Surrey at Colchester . Also Nantes did it for Middlesex in a T20 game at Chelmsford .
Think Napier also has taken one .
Anyone got a hat trick list involving Essex ?

I took one  ( non first clas ! ) in a match with two wickets at the end of one over, and the third wicket with the first ball of the next . I almost forgot !

There's a list in the yearbook.  Gronewald got a hat trick against Essex for Derby at Chelmsford in 2014.  For Essex the only first class ones at home since 1950 were Boyce at Chelmsford in 1974 and Cowan at Colchester in 1996.  The only first class one I've seen live was The Gronewald one but I did see Kaneria get one on TV in the match at Derby we got promoted in 2009.

Didn't Boyce get a hattrick in a 40 over game at Westcliff? It was my first 'live match' and we lost!

That's List A of course - found this list online:

Procter for Gloucs at Westcliff back in the 70s, I saw Groenewald's in 2014, Nape's 4 in 4 v Sorry in 1 day match, also David Payne for Gloucs 1 day match in 2010, 4 in 5 but no hat trick. Jerome Taylor for Sussex back in May in RL Cup is another, doubtless many others will c ome to mind.

Viv Richards against us in 1992,  I remember that in a 10 over match.
