Morgan & Hales
« on: September 12, 2016, 07:03:58 AM »
One day captain Eion Morgan plus test and one day opener Alex Hales have decided not to tour Bangladesh due to security concerns . Jos Butler will replace Morgan has captain, and Hales has effectively handed his test opener position over, although he did not convince during the summer .
End of England career for Morgan and test career for Hales ?

Depends how the replacements get on.Hales is probably in more danger of the two.Happened to Croft when Giles came in and he never got another game.

Wise move by Morgan. Take time out whilst the replacement dodge's bullets and bombs in Bangladesh.

I've been to Bangladesh ... on business. Glad I went. Never want to go back.

It shouldn't be, despite what that plank/moron Michael Vaughan said in the Telegraph today.

Yep I'm tired of rent-a-mouth Vaughan already.

Morgan has let down England & those who had faith in him in the ECB etc, there were plenty after Cook's head when he had a bad run of form & he had to go, Morgan has not justified his place with runs in any case so he must go, he has also missed England commitments previously (Ireland in 2015), strange that he is afraid of possible trouble yet will go to India for the IPL where there is also a big risk of trouble without a word.
Hales has also done himself no favours & although he may get in the 1 day team again I think that's it for Tests - no great loss though.

It's clear that Morgan is a carpetbagger and I fully expect him to return to play for Ireland when England finally drop him.

I'm sure that there are plenty of 2x4's who would very angry at this analogy.

I can't see how Morgan can return as Captain.  How can he command the respect of the team when they have gone to play somewhere that he is scared to go to?

He obviously thinks he knows better than the security expert who has been over to review the situation and declared it safe to tour.

Never trust "experts"

Australia pulled out, Balmy Army advised not to go, Mal Loye the Bangledesh batting coach has resigned and returned home as he feels it is unsafe.
I'm not a fan of Morgan but respect his decision.

What people don't realise due to the lack of publicity is that there are terrorist attacks *all of the time* in Bangladesh. Most of the trouble is 'local' but still manifests itself as frequent bomb attacks in public places.

Hales test career was over anyway - hopefully Duckett or Hameed can cement a place.

As for Morgan, well don't think he's that great a captain frankly and enough big hitters in county cricket to take his place in the team...

Perhaps Morgan might now actually deign to play for Middlesex once in a while if he can fit them in?
