Essex announce a financial loss for 2013
« on: March 14, 2014, 08:01:24 PM »
Essex County Cricket Club today announce a loss before tax of £65,256 for the year ending 31 December 2013. This compares to a trading surplus of £17,224 from 2012, which did include a movement on provision of fixed asset investments of nearly £43,000.

David Acfield, Treasurer, “ ...

I need not copy the remainder of the press release, the name of the man in charge says it all.

No mention on Wednesday. Only comment on finance was the club was in a good position, and the Commiittee wanted to fund the new development out of income from it as it went along.

That is very interesting, and quite at odds with the smug, self-satisfied press releases when the project was in its relative infancy. Not sure what/how or in what depth, (although being familiar with No Change Essex the depth was as likely as deep as the top five batting line-up in the CC).

This is as close as we're likely to get to an 'admission' that this has now become a piecemeal development, cobbled together over the years. It may similarly point to the original commercial "agreement" with the developer having been somewhat realigned. But, hey, it's all speculation, because the Club continue to guard this like a state secret.

Here's a novel suggestion; why do the Club not release a press statement that contains the truth about where they are with the redevelopment.
Until they do so. It once again illustrates their utter contempt for members and general supporters and believe that those two constituent groups are as stupid as they themselves.

There was a remark on Wednesday to the effect that the scheme's original bankers ween't in a position to honour the promises of funding. Or words to that effect. Couldn't quite catch what was being said.

Wouldn't surprise me ...especially if DA is involved. He's got history ...

When did the club last make a loss? Light years away from the financial strength of the Peter Edwards era?

Years of poor on field performance are obviously taking their toll.

Yet still heads don't roll.

Unfortunately the club has made losses in several recent years. A far cry from the Peter Edwards days. And before anyone says that times are different now ...
