Title: Glamorgan (H)
Post by: dazedpenguin on June 06, 2024, 03:15:33 PM
16 strong squad for the Glamorgan game and still no place for Khushi (who was with the seconds today).

Harmer, Allison B, Allison C, Beard, Benkenstein, Cox, Critchley, Das, Elgar, Pepper, Richards, Rossington, Sams, Snater, Thain, Walter

What is the point of naming 16 players in a squad for a home 20 over match with 6 days afterwards to recover?

Got to be a disciplinary issue with FK.

Got to be a disciplinary issue with FK.

Either that or he's decided he wont be playing here next season and so the club are preferering other players.

It's also possible that the whole bat issue has affected him and that the club have decided it's best not to play him in the first team for now.

Such a shame that a club cannot keep its supporters updated. Khushi scores a brilliant hundred and then we don?t see him again and we hear ?.. absolutely nothing. Whatever way you look at it, it is treating us with complete contempt.

On match preview it says
Sam Cook remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Tom Westley and Feroze Khushi remain in plans for the tournament after featuring for the Second XI at the Utlita Bowl earlier today.

He did play in the Warwickshire match so he has appeared after the 100 but it's all very odd.  If they want Elgar in the side he was likely to miss out but for Charlie Allison, Thain and Das to all be in the squad when he isn't is strange.

Crisp infers disciplinary issue

Not sure if I intimated disciplinary, I stated contractual.
To be fair you couldn't pick him on present form anyway.

Oooof. 106/7 from 90/1 while needing 6 an over. Don't throw this away lads.

You'd have thought Walter would have learned how to play spinners by now. But no.

What is it with this absolute refusal to play to the match situation? I just don't get it.

Fortunately Benkenstein and Snater held their nerve, unlike some of those above them in the order. Well played Luc! I think he's going to be a good player.

He's not going to be a good player. He's going to be a great player.

Very, VERY well done to young Benkenstein, getting us over the line from a seemingly hopeless position. And I thought it was telling that when he played a watchful forward defensive to his first ball, that got a round of applause from the home crowd, clearly relieved that someone, at least, had clocked that it wasn't necessary to hit the leather off every ball.

Benkenstein is a proper player with a great attitude; Slater is our new Tendo. Walter can't play spin. Harmer can't keep bowling his full allocation especially when Snater only bowled 1 over. Great win in the end

Walter should spend the next several days in the nets playing against spin bowling. As it happens I do have some free time in the next few days.

You have to say someone has got it right in picking Benkenstein as the teenager to play in this competitio .

The good, bad and ugly. But Bazball won the day. That?s all that matters.

Two wickets to win, spinners causing chaos and no slip in. We have seen some terrible opposition captaincy this season, in all formats.
