India World Cup 2025.
« on: October 03, 2025, 09:14:57 AM »
What can we expect from Lottie?s England.

Everyone plays everyone else, so expect a semi defeat, unless the hosts and holders play against each other in one of the semis .
Do not expect a lionesses or red rose success from the cricket side, Aussies and India to overcome .
So expect the usual semi, Ecclestone  and Knight  will need to support the Captain throughout .

They couldn't have had a better start today. But I don't see them beating Australia or India. A semi final would be a decent result though, given the performances recently.

They hammer anyone that isn't Australia and India in bilateral series.  They should make the semis easily.

Exactly. Whilst I understand the potential benefits to the game as a whole this bunch of jokers are not justifying their professional status. I admire what Wiegman has done with the lionesses by not tolerating prima donnas and moving players on.

No fitness tests? We have come a long way

Has night turns to day and some posters gripe about anything or anybody in Essex cricket, England lose in the semi, no surprise there.
Two world class performances effectively won this game with England outclassed, which on paper was the easy tie, avoiding both hosts and holders.
Compare the first over of both innings, England conceded ten ( two boundaries) with the deliveries barely on the wicket , SA took three wickets, game was already over.
Back to the drawing board for England, sticky plaster stuff from last winter, an open wound then which looks far from healing .
Laughs and giggles, probably advised from the PR person in ECB, does not project when professionals fail to perform, this being another such case.
No returns for the money invested, once again .

I wonder if a return to the Betty Snowball and Rachel Heyhoe-Flint days, when the players had to raise the money to pay their own way, would concentrate minds. No one wishes to sponsor a loser.

I've posted before that I worked with Shirley Hodges, England wicketkeeper - when she went on tour she did not get paid for her day job. The touring teams were put up in people's houses, not hotels - we had several staying with us. I don't want to go back to those days.

Players, of both genders, appear to want, more and more money for less and less in the way of performance.

They should stop the Crocodile tears and put away the peeled Onion. When they ask for the sympathy vote, regarding workloads.

Home advantage, beat the holders in a fantastic run chase to get to the final. Ironically lost to England. Job done for India. 🇮🇳

Some of those girls' lives will change forever off the back of that, whether it be for good or bad is their opinion and will probably come down to how much they enjoy walking the street in India without being recognised or photographed. I hope they are ready for that.

Of course, if Essex had any sense, they'd sign one of those big Indian names immediately for next season and get their jersey on sale to Indian fans. But the marketing nous at the club has been non-existent throughout history and I don't expect that to change anytime soon.

India are touring England next summer before and after the womens T20 world cup, which is in England.  You then have the far more lucratively paid Hundred after that.  You'd basically be talking about a month before the tour starts and 4 matches in September they'd be available for.  I'd very much doubt they'd be interested in doing that even if their board allowed it.

In 1967 the Scotland men football team beat England so the former claimed to be unofficial world champs. We could do the same. A moral victory.

That was obviously after the World Cup final, not before. Excellent try though. If the PR department was that proactive in Englands claim would suggest the back room department have their priorities wrong !
