Seconds T20
« on: July 04, 2024, 10:11:15 AM »
A good win yesterday against a strong looking Middlesex, with young left arm spinner Patel, scoring 12 of the last over, ( and 4 from the last ball) to see Essex home.
Rossington had a good knock, in a fairly inexperienced side.

The seconds play another T20 next Monday  1pm start at Chelmsford against Kent, and would welcome any support.

Does anyone know the lad 'Bear', who has taken 3 wickets in an over today?

Sam Bear, 17 year old seamer. Jamie Porter said that the seamers coming through the academy now are the best he's seen in his time at the club. He specifically mentioned Sam Bear and Mackenzie Jones, both of whom are playing today.

Sam Bear, some family connection  to former Essex opener Mickey Bear.

.. the man believed to have given Keith Fletcher his nickname. When Fletch first attended a first team rtraining session, he turned up in some very colourful clothes and winkle-picker shoes, upon which Mickey Bear exclaimed "what the hell have we got here? A  bleedin' garden gnome?"
