Essex bias

Watching some of this it struck me that there were loads of players in it that were no better than or often worse than many of ours...i find it odd (and despite the reservations of their talent of many on here) that the likes of Westley, RTD (on previous reputation/IPL expereince), and Harmer at least were not picked up, if not based on form, but more reputation/name.

Could this be due JF's opposition to it and a tacit agreement to not pick many Essex players?

Just seems odd at some of the dross in it.

 Do not know why both did not go to the 16.4 squad, has both were selected initially last season. Wonder if there  was any others which this happened too, and were they paid ?
Read somewhere that the players fees were to be reduced in future seasons due to last seasons non event.

There were a few players released after the first year was cancelled due to COVID.  The first year Harmer would have counted as a non overseas player like all Kolpaks so he would have been much more attractive to teams then.  Tendo was released after the first years draft and for some reason set his reserve price in the reauction at £48k.  Tim Bresnan was the only other player to do this.  Every other domestic qualified player had no reserve price.
