I'm sure Zaidi has said that he wants to play in all formats but as I've said previously for some reason - despite all the evidence to the contrary- we either don't play him or if we do, we make it look like he his making up the numbers unless in extremis he comes to the fore. He is a better bat than some e.g. Jaik and still our most experienced spinner by a long chalk. Why isn't he a fixture in every game ?

Because the selectors don't know what they're doing?

Why were spectators allowed to sit in front of and above the sightscreen without our Essex batsmen making them move? If it OK at Lord's, why is the Riverside Stand restricted at Chelmsford?

Jaik Mickleburgh exercising the clout his batting talent undoubtedly warrants.

You can't compare him to Jaik as Mickelburgh is an opener.  They don't seem to want to move lawrence to open so the only way Zaidi plays 4 cricket is if they leave Ryder out.  As for the spinner part.  We'll need one for Colchester but spin has not been needed in our matches this year.  People talk about the lack of spin we have but the opposition spinners have done absolutely nothing on the same pitches against us.

Brilliant innings from Zaidi that rescued a dodgy looking situation when he first came in. Has been our "one day" player of the season so far and like others, just cannot understand why he's not being played more in the Championship.
Definitely one of our best "signings" in recent years so well done to the club for recruiting him (least said about one of their other Winter recruitments (the hapless Dixon) the better though!

He isn't despite Grayson & now Silverwood thinking anyone can open the batting.

Ed Joyce said  Zaidi didn't do much in 4 day cricket at Sussex.

Maybe not as a bowler but in 10 innings last season he still hit a ton, a fifty and averaged just under 40.
Better than Jaik, Tom, Dan, Ravi, etc.

This might put the ton into perspective.  Everyone scored runs

I remember the match because I looked up Zaidi's stats when we signed him.

I take your point Jason.

Our great hope Chopra only scored 6.
In a high scoring match Zaidi had decent bowling figures.

Must still be worth a go in the 4 day game.

At the end of match on Sky, the man of the match gets a medal and a bottle of champagne.
Zaidi (I presume the champagne was not appropriate for him) only got the medal.

Do the other team members get the champagne or does being a  non drinker mean  the sponsors get away lightly?

Just to support my case, re Ryder's performance for 2016 in the 20/20, his stats for 2016 = innings 10 @ 18.50 = poor, we have Zaidi = innings 10 @ 44.62 = good
ans for the record, Velani 6 @ 10 and Browne 4 @ 15.  We have a problem at the top order.  Taylor n the team as a batman, coming in at 8 = 3 @ 7
This is not 'gibberish, just the stats.
Now Ryder is good in the 50/50,  but what a shame fir some reason he is not able to replicate that form in the 20/20.
