Well I tried, but failed to get elected. I failed quite miserably actually, only three votes from coming last, I was informed. But there you go, democracy in action; the club's members have voted and decided to keep faith in the existing committee. Many thanks to everyone who voted for me and those who voiced their support on this forum.

Don't give up Daren - some of the dead wood has to go soon as they'll get to 70.

Someone will probably call an EGM and a vote will be passed to extend the age to 75!!

I really despair of the members. I am saddened by the results: clearly we are a very small (enlightened) minority. At least Daren and Brian Springhall can say that they've tried - if the club collapses in the next few years and/or becomes a feeder club, well the members got what they deserved.

... some flats that no-one wants to buy.

That'snot true and you damage the credibility of your wider argument by continuing to suggest so. The level of debate on the re-development needs to improve.

I thought the redevelopment was predicated on selling flats.

So if those flats have sold why has the project stalled?

I'm disappointed for you, Daren. Vested interests and apathy continue to dog the Club. I would be confident this is rather similar to a General Election campaign, where those most likely to vote (typically pensioners) will vote for those faces they are already familiar with according to 'establishment', [dare i say it]; deference? Whether those in situ are worth voting for, or whether those casting their ballot have any idea over the record of their choice(s), and what they have done, from how often they've even attended a committee meeting, or indeed their voting record- all as opaque as most other aspects of the Club.
Therefore, we move in to another season, with a 'smoke and mirror' facade of so-called change, placating members, encouraging a ludicrous and unrealistic expectation of success, that the club continue to whip up. When is this shambolic structure of the rotten edifice of ECCC going to be subject to some sustained and thorough scrutiny?
