This is progress, and in the context of the perennially glacial pace of change at the eponymous ECCC, to be applauded.
It would be good for the Club to have to think on its collective feet though, and be faced with some tough questions, from people who are persistent and don't just accept any cobbled together reply as a full and honest 'answer'.

Well that sounds a good list of officials, but Jamie Porter? Why not Foster, or someone else senior, such as Westley (TBF think he's abroad) Napier or Masters.Even Mickleburgh!

I assume Hilliard will be prepared and competent to answer questions about the Redevelopment Scheme.

Good turnout at the forum last night and there were some very good questions, I thought. The quality of answers varied, but I thought Ronnie came across well. The ground revelopment still (to me) remains unclear and there was an interesting split on the panel (Hilliard/Irani) on the issue of captaincy, particularly the limited overs sides. Fossie looks like he will carry on "for another two to three years", according to Ronnie. The issue of the new head coach remains central and I would like to see this resolved sooner, rather than later.

To be fair, Darren, it was made clear that, as far as the coach is concerned,  there's a sensible on-going process. Adverts have placed, there have a number of responses, those have been evaluated by what appeared to be a competent sub-committee, and interviews are taking place. Where I would agree with you is that it seems that a process which we were originally told would be resolved by Jan 1st now looks like dragging on. We weren't told whether that is becauseof the time to interview people from outside the UK or because those in the know expect the appointee to have to give two or three months notice.

Agree about Ronnie, but I can imagine the Chairman having to tell Ronnie to back off at some point, to let the coach get on withn his job!

This was a good meeting with an extremely high turnout.

Porter did well in what must have been an unfamiliar environment.

There was , to me at least, a clear subtext that the playing problems were all down to the previous regime i.e. PG. RI lost no time in pointing out that as soon as he took the chair results improved and he spent a long while berating past recruitment decisions e.g. Mahmood and Willoughby. He said the emphasis in future would be to play our youngsters ( although that was said last year and that didn't last past the first couple of poor results). Silverwood was mentioned very positively several times so I wouldn't put much money on an outside appointment.

Apparently we hadn't' lost' any players- they were all certain to leave anyway i.e. Foakes,Wheater,Mills and Topley.

It looks like the Olympic Stadium will be used and sooner rather than later - presumably for 20;20 only altho'that was not specified.

As Darren said it looks like the captaincy is open for debate.

The ground redevelopment is stalled and its prospects as depressing as ever and we only have a guarantee of one more year for Colchester and then only one 4 day game.

I could have sworn that both the Chairman and CEO had supported the proposals for a 14 game county championship i.e. not playing everybody twice but they denied it and said that the format for 2017 was still to be decided but could be a 1st division of 8 and a second division of 10 with two down and one up for that season.

RI was an odd mixture of amiable enthusiasm and humour but also defensiveness and aggression( repeatedly accusing some poor soul of negativity when he'd made what I thought was a quite innocuous remark) and I would have thought he might be constitutionally unable not to encroach on others' remits more than he should. New coach beware!
