Ahead of Glamorgan ?
« on: July 11, 2015, 09:21:37 AM »

Danny,

I am trying to plan my week ahead.

Would it be possible to advise the members what type of wicket the groundsman has been instructed to prepare?

Will it be the "result wicket" adopted in all four home Championship matches thus far (combined score for four first innings of each match a mere (and appropriate?) 666)?  In each case the match has been won by the team winning the toss and inserting the opposition and there was little or no play on the final day.

Or will he (and those who pull the strings) be encouraged by the good track which contributed to making the Aussie game, if not competitive, certainly entertaining?

Thank you.

Mick, you might as well ask them I) why we continued to employ an overseas player when the ICC raised serious concerns ii) who ever thought Ronnie Irani was a competent captain? Iii) what happened to the £100k given to the 'advisor' who disappeared into the night? Iv) why swampy was the only one to lose out because of the Pkaistani leggie?

You'll get the same response to these questions as well.

Excellent Mick, laced with irony and impertinence, certainly in the mindset of ECCC, for which your name will be added to the blacklist containing all others who ask 'awkward' questions from our engaging Club. ;)
As Andy intimates; as likely as Grayson offering his resignation - and ECCC giving an honest critique of player acquisition/player departure over the past eight seasons!

Not really. Whilst your questions are pertinent and valid, the answer to none of them will affect what I do next Wednesday.

Also the answer to my question will be known to all by this time tomorrow; I fear the answers to yours may take a little longer.

Hell will freeze over before Mog gets answers to his questions.

At approx the same time the Essex redevelopment will be finished ;)

Would that it were, but it was actually a straight question.

Our four home wickets this season have quite clearly and demonstrably favoured the bowlers and it is a matter of record that each match has gone: win toss, choose to bowl, win match.

It also contained a (small) compliment about the tourist match.

That pitch was driven by greed though.

County championship pitches are driven by expedience.
