1949 Wisden page 221 states 'Attendance (2 days of Whitsun Sat and Mon) was 32000 with gate receipts of £3482'. Sam Loxton (who hit the only 'six' in the Australian innings) and Neil Harvey joined Trevor Bailey to unveil a commemorative information board in the OSSCC pavillion during the last Southchurch Park Essex Cricket Week. Alan Carradus and Trevor penned their recollections of the match. Alan as a young spectator and Trevor as a participant. What was interesting was that the Australian innings started at 11.30 with the final wicket falling at 6.20 which left no time for the Essex 1st Innings to start. Thus Australia batted for only 5 hours 50 minutes during which time Essex bowled 129 overs.
