I don't know what to make of Strauss. He says there is no trust between KP and the ECB but offers a role in the one day stuff. Now I don't know who the ECB are because all the originals have gone!
KP has done what the new boss at the ECB told him to do ie dropped the IPL got a deal at Surrey and got runs in county cricket but has been told sorry we won't pick you?
All you hear about KP is that he is a problem but then you hear the same about Swann and Broad,Boycott,Botham. It's not like they are away on tour where they can't avoid each other.
Now I am no great fan of KP but are we trying to to a bit too politically correct or is it Strauss is carrying a grudge?

So to sum up Strauss has made sure KP has danced his Last Waltz.

I'm not sure - in the end it may be the other way around. I just get the feeling that, as bad as he is at relationships and PR, KP is a survivor. Whilst understanding the exasperation, the more the ECB mgt try to bury him the less secure seem the likes of Cook.

It is clear that the lack of 'trust' comes from within the team namely Cook and perhaps Broad, Anderson. Seems like it was 'Cook/Broad/Anderson or Pieterson'.

The fact that KP leaked, via Morgan, yesterday afternoon that he had a planned meeting with Strauss yesterday evening certainly seems to back up the lack of trust line.

KP needs more than one innings. Most posters on here deride our batsmen for scoring runs against Leics. He needs to do it over the course of the season and then look for a place on tour.

I'm glad he's not in the trouble for England, Cook and Strauss is that England now need to do well against NZ and the Aussies so this whole KP thing can finally be put to bed.

If England struggle then it will be a summer all about KP.

Early days for Strauss, although he’s inherited a problem that was partly his own making.. The hint of a recall given to KP from one of the ECB hierarchy and the subsequent closing of the door by Strauss does not bode well.. The ECB need to get the right hand talking to the left hand pretty quickly otherwise they stock will be even lower than it currently is.. I’m not sure what is below laughing.

Its clear KP is a knob, but a very talented knob that entertains and wins games for England. From long before the textgate scandal it seems that the England management team/ECB haven’t got a clue how to handle a character like KP… or the other characters in the team for that matter. It is there job to ‘manage’ the team to get the best out of the team and talents to win games for England. They seem to not want to, or cannot deal with, players don’t fit into a certain type, a reason the current England squad is made up of so many programmable clones.  Another massive fail on the part of the ECB, not only in their handling of KP but also in the latest debacle.

Can’t help wonder how the ECB would handle a character like Warner? Do you think he would be scratching around for runs on a damp day in Hove on the back of a false promise as well…

I've not been a fan of KP since he declined to drive to Southampton to play county cricket from his London home a few years ago BUT I'm actually feeling very sorry for KP here - he's done what has been asked of him and more so, he's donated his salary to charity and yet just because Cook and Strauss have 'trust issues' with KP they say they won't select him - totally pathetic.  The Aussies wouldn't be doing the same clearly and it's personal simple as that.  Much as Cook is an Essex man I'd rather he not be captain and Strauss not have this job then the situation we find ourselves in - another negative summer of test cricket coming up with likely defeats in both series...

There would be likely defeats in both series with or without Pietersen.

they were saying on talksport this morning that the things Graves said to KP were taken the wrong way and KP has mis-understood what was said.  It looks like Strauss has been the man to tell KP this, although, if he wasn't promised an England recall if he started playing in the CC again why didn't Graves just speak up earlier.  This whole incident has made the ECB look a complete shambles.

With Cook as captain - at least we'd have had half a chance with KP playing...

The whole issue has been reignited by a big mouth Yorkshireman opening his mouth without thinking.

If he had kept quiet then KP would be in India and this would not be an issue again.

Our batsmen usually struggle to score 355 in total against any opposition.

I'm confused.

Normally you're all in favour of them.  ;D
