During the match Jaik Mickleburgh passed 4000 first-class runs. As you may have read in the press or known about by other means Dan Lawrence became the third youngest cricketer to score a Championship hundred, aged 17 years 290 days. The two youngest ahead of Dan are Godfrey Bryan of Kent, aged 17 years 245 days in 1920 and Someone who many of us may remember, Dipak Patel, then of Worcestershire, aged 17 years 270 days in 1976. We were there to witness Lawrence's feat and he looked good. Please go to see him if you can.

The good lady has recovered well but she'll probably never bowl or play tennis again. As for me, my condition is chronic, which means incurable but I get by with the aids of my walking stick, my baby walker and wheelchair. I just have to take things easy and not do too much. My other ailments are improved, my left ear has stopped leaking and I await a hearing aid for that ear to go with the right aid. Since I had the cataracts removed my sight has gone back to what it was many years ago. After the operation I told every nurse that I came into contact with how beautiful they are. I can now read cricket scoreboards and motorway signs and colours have so vibrant. The surgeon inserted new lenses into both eyes and if these last another 75 years I'll be pleased. Thanks so much for asking.

Brian - both of you take care! A quick question - Dan's was obviously the youngest Essex championship centurion. Is he also the youngest first class century maker for Essex?

Good to hear how much you have benefited from cataract surgery - and pleased to hear your wife is better.

Look after yourselves - your stats are very much valued.
