Wisden almanac summary
« on: April 08, 2015, 03:24:34 PM »
Lawrence Booth's coruscating analysis seems almost too much - a bit like kicking a puppy in the head.

My plan:
I) ask Cook to spend the next 9 months with his sheep
Ii) bring back KP as captain which will
Iii) get rid of Moores and the old guard
iv) cause England to lose thereby everyone turns on KP
V) who will p off back to India
Vi) then recall Cook
vii) we might look more attractive to an overseas (i.e. Competent) coach
viii) who will have a new team to build sans KP, Broad et al.
ix) lift all restriction orders on female sporting celebrities
X) immediately arrest Jamie Oliver and all celebrity chefs
XI) make me sole leader of the western... well, that's enough for now  ;)

The one you didn't predict was Downton being sacked. To be followed shortly by Moores and Cook I suspect

Slogger, mystic Andy was giving plans not making predictions. I'm not totally surprised at Downtons sacking just come a bit earlier than expected (I.e. After lamentable performances in the Windies).

He was given a hospital pass, mixing sporting metaphors, as the KP situation plus the build up of problems in the national team was going to make things tough in the short term - having Andy Flower hanging around in the background can't be a good thing and certain players needed moving on. However, there did seem to be an overly hasty attempt to rectify situations suddenly - complete u turns over who is to be playing in (leading) the ODI team, for example.

Maybe he should've grown a beard or got some tattoos.
