Saturday wouldn't be a great day in August because football would have started. Personally I'd always opt for cricket given the choice but many would go for football. I remember a crucial championship match circa 1990 with Essex pressing for a win which would given them a chance of the title and people left at lunchtime to watch various football teams.
Ah! but that was back in the good ole days when one didn't have to requisition a wheelbarrow to convey one's cash to gain admittance to a football game.
my season ticket to the 'Ammers works out at £29 a game. given that a T20 ticket to a non member is now nearly £30, I reckon it's equivalent value, however, you do have to fork out 565 quid to get that discount, the rest of the tickets to non STH's run to about 70 a pop in a few area's of the ground.
Having said all of that, I'd probably have gone and watched Essex in a quarter final over football. And so would a fair few of the lads. although at the start of August, we didn't realise we were actually going to see decent football from the boys in Claret and blue....above Arsenal after 7 games is always nice.....Above Liverpool and Everton is wonderful....
