I wouldn't be surprised if Robson's days are numbered and that it won't be long before he's replaced by either Lyth or Lees of Yorks. certainly for the forthcoming tour of the Caribbean.

England are slow to discard players these days, unless you're a fast bowler. 1 x 100 and 1 x 50 in his first 9 innings is enough to keep him in the team for this series. He will have to bat very poorly in the last two Tests to jeopardise his position. But even if he does, and England win the series, I'd expect him to remain - they do like to keep a winning team together.

The WI tour is 8 months away, but before then we have a plethora of ODIs, so Robson can sit back and watch his rivals make a mess of things.

Carberry was soon discarded. I think Robson will certainly be dropped if he doesn't perform in the next two tests. Get Hales in, he has proven that the big stage doesnt effect him and he has the game to succeed at Test level.

So was Taylor when he failed against Suid Afrika, Galboy. I think Carberry may have been a tad unfortunate in being selected for that ill fated tour, even so, I suspect he fared better than perhaps Robson would have done.

You appear to be reasonably knowledgeable on the game of cricket, what is your opinion of Lyth and Lees? It used to be stated back in the good ole days that when Yorks. were strong, England were strong.

Well, the 666 thing is a mistake - coming from a poor translation of a copy of Revelations.

It is actually....616. Start your search now. I don't think that we've had around 50 Test new faces since KP???

Didn't Kirtley have a suspect action? His last wicket was KP - they played in the 2007 World Cup together. The KP coincidences are very suspect...

Strangely, my daughters went through a stage of referring to Alastair Cook as the devil. I think it may have been to do with facial hair fashion at some time, but I can't entirely remember. One of them still tends to call him "Devs".

Hales has just got out for 101 down at Taunton. Yes, it's Taunton and it's only Sri Lanka A but he has done the job he was selected for. He has batted far better in the CC this season and, as a RH  attacking batsman, would make a good foil for Cook. But I still expect Robson to be given a good run.

Whoops...Bopara has just followed for 74 in the same over.

Carberry was ditched far too soon - bar Stokes was our best batsman down under.

Funny how Hales is being talked about now as a test player - only a few months ago he couldn't get in Notts team (which I voiced here at the time I found odd), now Jacques has left he's the talk of the town - but rightly so!!!
