75 sheets a ticket though eh?  plus it's in the middle of nowhere and trains back to London are always rubbish coming back into the City.  seem to stop everywhere.

To go to this test match from anywhere North of Aldershot I reckon you are looking at £125 minimum before you've eaten or had a beer.

that's a lot of money these days.

By contrast, I never ceased to be amazed by the number of bottles of champagne (prices start at £60) sold at Lord's. As I've said too many times "Don't they know there's a recession on?" There is a lot of money swilling around in London.

For every cock-up (Rose bowl - Aegeas bowl or whatever it is called this week) there is a brilliant marketing effort (Lords/Oval) where the chinless wonder city-types can be relieved of their cash.

I took my lad to a lot of international cricket last year. I looked at Durham, which was prohibitively expensive so I didn't bother. We did the Sunday at Lords v Australia for £50 for the two of us in the lower stand at the nursery end which I thought was good value.

That is remarkably good value, it seems that maybe the prices have been lowered since the great robbery of 2009. Were they in advance or in the day?

Looks a good crowd in today at OT - far better than day 1 at The Bowl and a bigger stadium to fill too - as I said, people just don't like The Bowl...

I agree - I know some cricket lovers in Southampton and even they won't go to the Bowl!

The £50 at Lords was the going rate for the Sunday. I luckily got them in the second ballot. We did the Sunday against the kiwis and that was even cheaper. We also did 2 adults and a child for £80 at Leeds last year - again the Sunday. Durham, Cardiff and Southampton do seem expensive and the latter seems difficult to access. I reckon anyone outside Hants would find the Oval easier to get to.

Plenty of people in Hants as well.

Basingstoke is 3 stops to Vauxhall.

---and Edinburgh had no stops to Kings Cross on the 'Flying Sotsman.'
