Vs Kent @ Castle Park

Shame for Kent. Almost feel sorry for them.

Clearly Galboys mate tucked into some under arm bowling here. Excellent performance from Diatribe's MVP as well. Good job when we get rid of him, then.   ::) ::) ::)

Good to see the lads set a target and defend it. That last over bowled to  RtD was a killer, though!

Have we won the Mike Denness trophy yet? Need to book the time off for the Open top. Bus parade.

That was a comprehensive victory for sure over a side that batting wise fell apart bar brief resistance from 2/3 players only, loved seeing Mr Key walk off having got very little yet again, Harmison must have dreaded hearing his bowling figures read out especially after Tendo slaughtered his last over.
Magnificent innings by Westley with some great cricketing shots & good clean hitting plus a fully deserved ton after an LVCC style start by us of 2-2. A pity Ryder failed again with the bat but he bowled exceptionally well to get a 5 for which is fairly uncommon in T20.
Great to see Castle Park almost full on a sunny afternoon, hope the crowds come for the next 4 days as well, let's hope that if possible Colchester gets a T20 match next season as well. One more win & we get a1/4 Final home tie, very well done to the team once again, more of the same please.

Excellent win and many congrats to Westley - he seems to get some stick but the fact is the guy has established himself well in all formats and a ton in a t20 game would have laughed at by us all at the start of the season least because no one would have expected Tom to make the t20 side!  Love it or loath it, t20 is here to stay and we've found a few gems or more to the point some promising youngsters have made their name in t20 and gone on in all formats - Topley, Chambers (despite leaving had a good t20 in 2008), now Westley!!

Yes a good win, would have been even better with more adept opposition able to make a fight of it. Not that a win over Kent in any format isn't always the sweeter for it.

A full house of 4500 (could have been at least 500 more but for health and safety baloney) unfortunately doesn't mean that the Colchester Festival will be financially viable - my own fear is when the Chelmsford upmarket adventure is complete then we'll no longer be playing at the Castle Park.

Still none of this detracts, that even with a weakened attack, Essex are a class act in smash and bash , even although to me it seemed a perfect day for the old 40 over format. Nevertheless, Tom continues to prove the doubters wrong and the appointment of RtD as limited overs captain a very good move.

Ravi's spying mission while working for Sky on the Sussex/Kent game obviously worked.

Insomuch that he was informed that our match was to begin at 2.30 and not 5.30 as had previously thought. ???
