If we bat first then I would hope that the batting line up would look like this.

Walter
Pepper
Cox
Allison
Benkenstein
Harmer
Snater
Critchley
Akhter
Cook
Jones

Harmer is having his best season in red and white ball with the bat and needs to bat higher as does Snater, who for some reason is never used to his batting potential.

Worth a go. They should definitely be flexible with the batting lineup and after Harmer's innings in the last game, he could easily go above Critchley.

Remarkable recovery from the depths of 69-8, although probably still not enough. Would be interesting to know if Harmer has been working on some specific aspect of his batting - whatever the reason, he's in the form of his life.

At the same time his bowling has declined.

That was disappointing after the performance against Sussex, but it seems to be the nature of Essex in T20. Well done to Harmer for getting Essex something on the board (along with Mackenzie Jones), but 142 was always going to be very difficult to defend. Cook was exceptional though.

Hampshire at home and then Surrey at the Oval. 2 wins needed to qualify for the quarter finals I think, and that will be tough against the top 2.

Very disappointed  Essex lost by 4 wickets to  Middlesex. Despite a good all- round captains performance from Simon Harmer.

Well that put a spanner in the works.
Perhaps Harmer should open and bat Pepper down the order .
