Well, I'm going to take a wild guess that Essex won't get 71 in 15 balls.

Some positives: Bennett and Benkenstein. I'm struggling to think of anything else. Can the wooden spoon be avoided?

Er no.

I fear that may be right. I think Middlesex are a better side this season, despite losing the first 2 games.

Also another poor attendance, at half term, on a scorching night. The ECB truly know how to **** county cricket.

To add to the experience. There were a number of announcements about major rail disruption.

Gawd. We really aren't very good at this are we.

Strangely we were more-or-less neck and neck with the Hampshire innings right up until the 15 over mark, but whereas they exploded at that point, we fizzled out. We can't seem to put partnerships together in this. So many of our shots only bring 1, it seems our players don't have the improvisational skills to beat the fielders. 30 as a margin of defeat is actually flattering to us. Harmer's blitz at the end, when the match was already over, was reminiscent of his whirlwind 50 last year, also when the match was already over. Perhaps he needs to bat higher up and give himself a chance of doing it when it matters? Or why not try Snater up the order? I've been wondering for ages why they never give that a go. Might not come off but jeez, they have to try something.

Essex don?t care about T20 cricket.  After last years total embarrassment they have literally done nothing to improve the team.  In fact swapping Amir for Mulder they?ve made it even worse.

Another poor night for Essex. Sadly I do not see us winning a game this season.

Positives, first are that Bennett bowled well, Benky and. Thain batted well.

Good to see the younger players doing well.

May as well play as many young players as we are not competitive at this level.

Mudler looks like the worse signing ever, cant bowl or bat! Did this guy really score 375? Two overs for 33 and scored 14 off 15. He will have to be dropped .

They were a better side than us last year and we look even worse than last year.

End of the day, we've not got the resources to manage both white and red ball cricket, so we have to prioritise. We chose to prioritise red ball cricket and that's the right decision whilst we have the likes of Harmer, Porter etc keeping us competitive in D1. Compare our overseas players tonight to theirs (two proven white ball stars, especially Stubbs). They are also paying good money to white ball only domestic players like Vince, Wood and now Dawson.

But it's costing Hampshire on the red ball front, where they are about to get relegated, so I'd rather be in our position personally.

Having just witnessed a long slow lingering death I can tell it is no fun.
Absences injuries and inadequate replacements tell the sad story of what for me must rate one of the poorest if not the poorest of a T20 side ever taken the field.
Hampshire were better, sharpe,  more powerful in every respect.Men against boys with the bowling and in Stubbs and Cartwright their brutalisation of a inexperience attack in the last five overs, demonstrated the embarrassing gap between the sides.
I confess I left when Mulder was out and the writing was writ large. The choice was witnessing the inevitable being pragmatic and avoiding car park chaos often taking forty minutes plus to exit.
If I wanted salt rubbed into the wound I could always watch the events unfold unflinchingly on Sky.
Happy days.👿👿👿

You?re right but there is no excuse to be this bad at t20.  They were embarrassing bad last year and they?ll be lucky to win more than a game or two.  We have been a good red ball team for ten years now and have until last year been generally been pretty competitive in white ball cricket.
