Hampshire (A) 2026

The same squad. As much as I'd like to see a different result, Hampshire are a good T20 side with Vince playing.

Harmer, Akhter, Benkenstein, Bennett, Critchley, Das, Fernandes, Jones, Mulder, Pepper, Snater, Thain, Walter

Hard to see us winning.  We always lose there and we're a worse side than we have been in previous seasons.  Hampshire haven't won a match all season so can't be feeling great about life but even so.  On the other hand Sussex were 92-0 after the 6 over powerplay today and only 79-1 against us so perhaps we're actually really good!

I was hoping that the Lions might release Allison for tonight. Sadly, didn't spend much time at the crease at Arundel and next fixture is not until Friday at Beckenham.

Assuming they don't, I guess it's the same team again.

Critchley needs to float at 3. Mistake putting him after the good start made by Walter and Pepper. If we have momentum in the innings, then better to send in Benkenstein or even Fernandes. Critch isn't a big hitter, so better to be used in a Joe Root type role, so sure up an innings if we lose early wickets.

Southampton might suit our spin attack. Big boundaries where you can ask the batsmen to take you on. I was at Old Trafford yesterday and Lanky did exactly that successfully v Notts.

Maybe someone should have ordered Omar Akram an Uber from New Malden to Southampton!!!!!

108* from 55 for the Two's v Surrey. 9 sixes and 7 fours.

Appreciate the difference in levels, but what do we have to lose for the next time out?

Essex won the toss and chose to chase. Probably the best choice with such an inexperienced seam attack. I hope they show some flexibility with the batting lineup. Fernandes should be given a chance higher up and Snater should come in if they need some late innings biffing.

Unchanged team:

Walter, Pepper, Critchley, Benkenstein, Mulder, Thain, Harmer, Fernandes, Snater, Akhter, Bennett

Didn't Stubbs do well against Essex last time? Here's their side. Bowling looks weaker than usual:

Vince, Albert, Weaherley, Prest, Stubbs, Cartwright, Fuller, Dawson, Currie, Neal, Wood
