Off to Old Trafford to watch some Mickey Mouse cricket. Only £15 (full price - £10 in advance).  ;)
dont enjoy yourself will you, that T20 is way to fast and exciting for some :)

Virtual walk over. Midders bowled extremely well (can see why we released him in favour of that one day specialist spinning all rounder) Jos Buttler destroyed the rest of the Northants attack, although watching him 'keep' reminds me how I've been spoiled by witnessing many Fossie masterclasses!

Seems a certain persons one day contract is up for renewal.   ;) Well done Mr Phillips.

Ryder looked like a village green number eleven, trying to smash everything, and playing some terrible air shots.
I was not impressed.

But a win is a win and well done Tim Phillips.

Yes, he looked completely out of sorts, misfielding, didn't bowl and then hit the ball unerringly to the mid-wicket boundary fielder in the power play. Not quite what you expect from your overseas player.

He and Monty been naughty boys? Both seem 'out of sorts'.

OK who wants a bet: booze, blow or birds?

We got out of jail thanks to Tim Phillips who yet again showed a calmness in a batting crisis, whatever his limitations in 4 day cricket is well worth his place in 1 day cricket. Middlesex should have got around 180/190 but once Morgan was out lost their way a bit as our bowlers clawed us back into it, some shoddy fielding at times notably from Ryder but a fine run out from Reece who also bowled excellently to Christian before getting him out.
Yet again we froze against Ravi Patel who always bowls well against us, Podmore too bowled very well but our batting was fragile (sounds familiar?) bar Pettini, Tendo & Phillips, still a win is a win & 2/3 more should see us qualify at the very least.
One final thing - I had to complain to a Steward about a group of 7 orange clad young men who were standing up far too much in the Hayes Close end (almost all the time towards the end) what with continual visits to the Bar & toilet as well making it difficult to watch the game at times which they clearly weren't!!. To be fair they were spoken to & heeded the words (for about 2 minutes) but credit the Steward for taking action.
We need to be better all round next week v Somerset but well done to the team anyway.

A propos nothing. Freddie flintoff's certainly lost weight since he played for England. Barely recognised the guy when he was walking past me. Only when he started chatting, he was Ashwell Prince's b@*ch for the night, to use the vernacular, did I recognise him.

Agree he looked awful yesterday. Ryder's T20 scores so far (no of balls faced in brackets)

Middx 15 (14)
Glam 30 (18)
Hants 1 (4)
Surrey 31 (16)
Kent 32 (14)
Gloucs 25 (18)
Middx 8 (10)

Had a few starts and the 30s have been at 2 runs a ball but needs to go on and make the 70/80 match winning knock to justify his overseas tag to be honest

Watched on Sky (!) and from what I saw, agree entirely. The orange clad young men were shown a couple of times; I wondered what they were up to!

So I take it that if we hadn't scraped past the worst 20/20 side in the country Grayson would be falling on his sword?

I bet you were gutted when Phillips pulled it out the fire!

I'm relying on Essex to fall at the final hurdle.

If we win the comp then Grayson truly will have a job for life. :(

Perhaps they were horologists checking on the clockwork, Square.

A splendid achievement indeed, Blocky, but when was the last time this could be stated of Essex in relation to the game of cricket, 2002 in div. 2, or should we digress further to the days prior to apartheid back in 1992.
