Strange how these "accidents" happen on a regular basis...

ECCC's insurance premiums are going to be shooting up.

Dunno, though I did one have to proofread a document that referred to an "act of Cod" (which I rather enjoyed).

& of course the club shout it from the rooftops.

Indeed, the euphemisms are only surmounted by the deafening echoes of denial.

Well, they should be considering the fact that the playing staff is heavily loaded with specialist one day players. Pettini, Ten Doeschate, Bopara, Smith, Philips, Napier et al to name but a few.

One could arguably add Ryder to that list and according to Galboy, Foakes and Westley are also developing along this line. At the end of the day, whatever way one views T20, it isn't cricket and was never originally intended to be, but merely a money making diversion to attract the sponsorship of a tyrannical Rupert Murdoch's satellite TV.

I don't think back in 2002 or whenever T20 was introduced, it was envisaged that it would transpire to be a monster which would threaten the traditional game of cricket. Maybe the authorities underestimated the instant gratification, dumbed down public's mentality, although they shouldn't have, particularly in the UK where the Sun and Daily Mail are the leading newspapers.( I use the term newspapers, strictly in the euphemistical context.)

NB, I'm not entirely certain as to whether euphemistical is an acceptable word, although I know euphemistically is au fait. No doubt my mentor, Fire, will be able to advise upon this matter. ;D

20/20 does appear to have become something of a Pol Pot style Year Zero destroying everything in its overhyped wake.

Still as long as you can flog some crap Kentish beer off the back of it ...

It was a typo that I caught while doing some freelance proofreading work. It was so delicious that I have to admit I was tempted to leave it in...

Take it you caught it on a long line! Very impressive being able to work as a proof-reader; I'd never manage the concentration!

Back to topic -  We will select from a 14-man squad with Greg Smith, Kishen Velani and Saj Mahmood added to the squad that beat Gloucestershire last Friday, although Graham Napier and Matt Salisbury are still unfit.

Pettini, Ryder, Westley, Bopara, Ten Doeschate, Foakes, Foster, Phillips, Masters, Mills, Topley, Smith, Velani, Mahmood

Middlesex's 13 man squad

Eoin Morgan, Dan Christian, Joe Denly, Neil Dexter, Nick Gubbins, James Harris, Ryan Higgins, Dawid Malan, Ravi Patel, Harry Podmore, Ollie Rayner, Gurjit Sandhu, John Simpson

No, he's not playing.  He's the 'heavy roller'?
