Our 3 young seamers not exactly pressing their claims for a 1st XI position.

A very weak Essex batting lineup managed to get 335 and both Bennett and Jones got 50s. Which would seem to indicate that calling the pitch a road would be an understatement. Are they using the kookaburra in these fixtures too?

Good to see Jack Parrish getting a 5 for. I wonder if he'll get a chance in the 50 over competition? He's only 16 so probably too early, but he has been picking up wickets regularly and there aren't that many spinners coming through.

Mark Pettini at Hove. I thought he was assisting Hyman with the seconds?

Browne, Das, Richards and Fernandes didn't get a 50 between them in 8 innings so if it's a road then our batsmen don't seem too comfortable on it.

Clearly it became a minefield in the interim. Let's hope it's actually a "learning experience" for the bowlers. I think that's probably the most overs many of them will have bowled in an innings.

There's clearly a problem with the 2XI. Management changes are required.
