Just imagine if we’d had a player like Sir Chef nudging the ball around…good job his type are a thing of the past.

Much better one day player than he was ever given credit for.

His record in International ODIs was pretty underwhelming.  The likes of Malan, Bairstow, Roy and Hales all average more than him at a far superior strike rate.  He may have been ok chasing 280 against Afghanistan but if they were chasing 350 against India or Australia then he'd have been a liability.

Indeed.  The best decision he made was retiring from international white ball cricket - for himself as well as club and country!

Fantastic win by the Netherlands vs South Africa. Good to hear Ryan Ten Doeschate on Test Match Special summariser duties.

Well, no point betting on this tournament, I would say that this is a fix, but all the minnows are winning now.

After that defeat to South Africa (England's heaviest defeat in ODI history), England should probably be re-classified as minnows. That was abject. Who knew that devaluing the 50 over competition to the level of second XI tournament, while the rest of the players are in the 100 ball nonsense, would actually have an impact.

Awful. I can't remember a team that disintegrated so quickly.

They are reaping what they have sown - no sympathy from me.

"The careers of several of those who have just signed lucrative new contracts would appear, in this format at least, to be over. A few days after announcing those contracts, some of them are seeming very generous indeed" @GeorgeDobell1

Spot on, George.

I'd be checking the India bookmakers.

That was awful. Can they get a refund on some of those 2 and 3 year contracts? Just when we think England have hit the bottom of the barrel they just keep going.

The thought had crossed my mind, but I suspect there’s trouble at’mill in the dressing room because betting scandals involve some sort of leverage. Given that most of those England players have nice ECB contracts, there’s no financial leverage, so that leaves other forms of blackmail…maybe there’s shots of Stokes and Butler in a compromising position???

I do not know the format. If they remain bottom will England have to qualify for the next world cup?
