50 over world Cup
« on: October 05, 2023, 04:03:29 PM »
Well it was a good job New Zealand had to field a weakened side today. Nice to see how England have profited from the domestic 50 over competition.
This was men against the aged. Woakes and Moeen should not be out there. The latter is poor in all formats and Moeen's mind has been elsewhere for years. Buttler is a poor captain too. I thought we would be lucky to get out of the group stage and now I am pretty sure of it.

Woakes is the saviour of the team, whenever he is left out of the side and we lose he is the first person who people call for a return.

Am I bad for enjoying my national team getting their backsides handed to them by the Kiwis?

Well done England on keeping the net run rate up. Another one of these and the bags might as well be packed.

Comprehensively beaten by Afganistan - their only ever previous win against Scotland. At least can’t blame the Counties for this defeat - these England players will not have played domestic 50 Over cricket for years since sold out to the “Hundred” demoting domestic 50 0vers essentially to a second eleven competition. This was no narrow defeat - outplayed from beginning to end - won by 70 runs with 9 overs to spare !!

But they don't care....as articulated by the new president of the MCC Mark Nicholas.

According to the BBC, the England team will be playing the rest of their games in Saudi Arabia. They said that England's campaign will be in that large City there, Jeopardy. The place where all the jobs are.

Get the England World Cup song released quick.

The song for the 1999 World Cup which was released after England had exited the tournament. Did not have the word Cricket in the title or the lyrics.

Much better one day player than he was ever given credit for.

His record in International ODIs was pretty underwhelming.  The likes of Malan, Bairstow, Roy and Hales all average more than him at a far superior strike rate.  He may have been ok chasing 280 against Afghanistan but if they were chasing 350 against India or Australia then he'd have been a liability.
