I do not know the format. If they remain bottom will England have to qualify for the next world cup?

Not sure about that, I think it's done by ICC rankings. But the top 7 teams (and Pakistan as the host nation) will automatically qualify for the 2027 champion's trophy. The chances of that actually going ahead are slim given India's reluctance to tour Pakistan.

I don't know about the next World Cup- if the ICC don't choose to abandon the format- but I suspect England will be there whatever changes the ICC need to make to the rules to ensure they are.

I quote from the Wikipedia page on the 2525 Champions Trophy, so it may not be true:

Quote
As hosts, Pakistan qualified for the competition automatically, and they will be joined by the seven other highest-ranked teams in the 2023 Cricket World Cup, which precedes the tournament.

Oh dear.

David Willey is not happy…irrespective of whether he deserves a central contract (or whether any of the others should’ve been given one) it is bizarre that the ecb announced this during a World Cup.

Just imagine if we had a good chance of getting into the next round, what possible good could this timing of the announcement do?  Bazball has degenerated into headless chicken ball on and off the field.

Joe Root says 'no Aussies' would make England team:

Thanks for the hype Joe, but sadly at this present moment cannot justify ANY England player making the X1 !

Anyone know why Mitchell Marsh has gone back home? He was our last hope of beating the Aussies!

Marsh returned home due home to unspecified family reasons, and was expected not to return ( could do Essex a job if available ).

The Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will miss their World Cup match with England due to concussion after falling off a golf cart this week.

Dad's Army playing again.
I'd hoped that at least Gus A would get a bash

It was his grandfather who passed away. Sad to hear. On the other hand Glenn Maxwell seems rather accident prone…almost Flintoff or Topleyesque.

Harry Brook should be playing every game possible.  Moeen Ali, although he did get a few runs today, has been useless in ODI cricket for years and he bats in front of Livingstone, which tells you everything you need to know about how ordinary Livingstone is.

If we make a top 7 place at the end of this farce it will be a travesty.

England will have to pay centrally contracted players for the entirety of their deals even if they no longer play 50-over cricket after this World Cup.

Perhaps the money can from a renaming of the upgraded Warner stand. Stanford Stand anyone ?
