Using the first team in the Secon XI
« on: May 24, 2023, 12:26:25 PM »
Looking at the recent T20 match v Kent, and the forthcoming match, it seems we are fielding a very, strong team by using it as training for the first team members.

We played AM Rossington, DW Lawrence, MS Pepper, MJJ Critchley, PI Walter, HArmer , S Cook and J Porterr.. Only Khushi , Nijjar, and Dias are regulars in the second team.

Questions

- is this fair? IT seemed to be rather one sided looking at Kent's team and

- how do the other second team members feel?

Scenario happens due to figure congestion.
Recently Sussex and Kent have also done it . One presumes the counties do inform each other of their intention.

Well I live about five miles from Garon Park. I had forgotten the seconds were there today until a pal reminded me at lunch time. I was in my garden fiddling about when about 3pm my son, who is back from university in Scotland appeared. Did I fancy going out? Ok - how about popping to the cricket at Garon Park? So off we went. It was pretty warm in my garden. Well at GP there was a howling gale and it must have five degrees cooler! Everyone was wrapped up in coats! It was just like old times. I used to take the lad there when he was at primary school. And we won....

It had been arranged for ages that the T20  first team would use some second eleven games to warm up for the real thing. Then, out of the blue, this Ireland fixture was arranged and threw a spanner in the works. Mr McGrath was not amused.

Did the golf balls fly ?

Luckily not. But the wind was as bad as ever,  relentless.
