Re reading, it should have said post 1970s.

Something, that is making blood boil. Is a Football club, not issuing a printed programme. I can remember when programmes were printed for One day games.
Totally agree Vim. But it isn?t just programmes. Books, music, spectator sports have all fallen to the great god ONLINE.
Eventually the planet will disappear up its own backside.

I have not been to a football game for a number of years. The lack of a programme did not bother me.

With some Non League clubs and mergers, de mergers and closure, followed by re-opening a few years later. It is interesting to read the club history, to see what was not written, rather than what appears in the programme.

One club, to avoid getting embroiled in legal disputes. Just, do not mention around 20 years of their history at all.

Then in 10 years time some marketing genius will come up with the idea of providing a tangible artefact for fans (I.e. an over priced scorecard).

At the last game, complete at home scorecards were provided. The problem was, they should be completed online. Not with a pen.

This is someone, who I did not know very well. The members who did, may not frequent this Forum.

Another Andy, who used to be found at the front of the Tom Pearce Upper. At the end adjacent to the River stand. Also died during the off season.

Very sorry to hear that. I notice Leicestershire had a minutes silence at the start of their match for a member of the ?family? who passed away over the winter. A good idea to say farewell as a club to loyal ex members before the new season stars.

Essex had a minute's silence for a former member. I was not in attendance, but it was someone I had a dispute with over smoking.

The reaction from an observer, was do not take him on, as he is friends with some of the players.

Really, a useful idiot that can be used and discarded.

Presumably the deceased member was the smoker in the dispute?

I don't know any of the people mentioned. I generally sit st Hayes Close or on the public side. I used to talk to a guy named Fred, a working class guy from Braintree, a world war 2 veteran and immensely proud to be a club member. He first watched Essex in the 1920s as a lad. I suspect the powers that be never knew he existed. When he died in about 2009 nothing waa said.

Yes, Andy, you are correct.

I am an ex smoker. It is the case similar to converts from one major religion to another. Being bigger zealots, than those who have been in it since birth.

The problem with putting members obituaries in the Yearbook. In a year, they would take up the entire book.

Because of infirmity ...... sadly, I became a wheelchair user ...... I hadn't managed to attend a game for about three years and then my son managed to take me, and put me in the (rather cold and unwelcoming) wheelchair users space under the Tom Pearce. During the day he went upstairs to where I used to sit but couldn't see any of the people I used to sit with up there.
Rather sad.
I'm a little more mobile now, and hope he'll be able to bring me again this season.

There was somebody, who lives outside of Essex. Turned up, looking for people in their usual seats. They had been replaced by strangers.

If he had asked me about them. I would have answered, I do not know where they went and if I did. I would not tell you.

My son knew for whom he was looking. He lives abroad, so can't .....,. couldn't ..... come with me more than once or twice a year. I miss my Essex cricket. There's an atmosphere than you can't get on-line.
