From the press release it appears that he is resigning as chair of a sub committee, but remaining on the main committee.

If you are not satisfied with this, the remedy is through the ballot box.

Has anyone noticed that his company is a sponsor of the club?  That may be the main problem: he who pays the piper, etc.
