T20 Crowd Capacity Allowance.
« on: June 22, 2021, 04:20:00 PM »
Crowd Capacity allowed for the next few T20 Games only 800 which I calculate to be about 12% of the actual Crowd Capacity of 6,500. It was my understanding that there is an allowance of 25% for outdoor events. 60,000 going to be allowed in at Wembley for Euro Football Semi Final and Full House at Wimbledon for Tennis Finals under "Governments Research project" !! My Tickets for Friday have been cancelled with Refund despite my order immediately as allowed by for Members - not impressed.

Ground capacity is subject to the local safety committee as has previously been discussed. 6.5k capacity is a bit optimistic, more like 5.5k according to the club.

I am rather puzzled - like you I bought my tickets as soon as members booking opened. My tickets for the Somerset game on the Tuesday has been honored - did the really sell 800 tickets in the first 10 mins?

Basically the ground being an absolute dump and not being developed in donkeys years has finally caught up with us.

Did you receive an initial email stating that your purchase would be honoured, however your original tickets would be cancelled and then you would be reissued tickets with reassigned seats?

Did you then subsequently receive an email with confirmation that the original tickets had been cancelled
but no confirmation of the reissued reassigned seat tickets?

If all the above applies I recommend that you contact the ticket office by telephone / email ASAP.

True but the club have still gone to town with COVID restrictions.

There must be prisons with less security.

It appears that No Change Essex have some questions to answer over this. (Clearly the chances of getting any answers seem as remote as ever).
Interesting that when the Club believe they can sell out 80s relic, Chelmsford, they cram as many people in as possible. I'd suggest that 6,500 is way over the comfortable capacity limit for the ground, not least due to lack of exits, toilets, tatty infrastructure.
When it becomes mathematically clear the Club cannot progress to the next stage, no doubt they'll use some spurious 'legislation' to exempt themselves and play in an empty County Ground for however many home fixtures remain.

Minor point but it is indicative of how the club view supporters as an inconvenience.

Every other club I've visited this season is giving away free scorecards.

Whereas Essex aren't even printing them.

Yorkshire are also not issuing scorecards on the day but you can buy a completed one later. I suspect they view them as inconvenient and at 50p to members awkward to deal with in cashless Headingley.

Hand on heart, does that really surprise you about the current set-up?
On a slightly adjacent issue, if any one fancies an hour and a half of free entertainment (no not watching Essex bat online), I suggest you watch the online Essex AGM.
If you are able to stay awake after JF droning on about how he wants as many fans back in the ground ASAP (you can actually see his nose growing to three foot long when he says this), and IP tugging at your heartstrings over how we hope to still be in existance in 2022, then you will be rewarded with Mr Irani's circa 2000 internet connection, plus his little dig about the ramblings that took precedence over his spot in the proceedings.
But the comedy gold award must go to David Acfield doing a passable imitation of an undertaker and who eventually "buries" his head in his hands. Bored? Asleep? No I think just plain embarrassed at what our club has become.

Based on a conversation I had with JF recently. E-Mail the membership office and ask them to forward your questions to appropriate members of the committee and at some point they will get back to you with answers.
