All the best to the ECCC coach and all the other lunatics currently running around the capital.

Leaving aside the fact that he should keep on running there are more pressing matters from a  cricketing perspective.

What an absolute joke of a club Essex is.

Agreed - wish him well for no doubt a worthy cause(es) but come on, on the first day of the season...

We won't miss him anyway - I predict we'll have a good day today and then collapse like nine pins tomorrow when he returns - that's unless he's still jogging round London tawn....

The constant criticism is scraping the barrel a bit now.

I'm sure that all of the necessary preparation would have been completed prior to today so short of telling the skipper whether to bat or bowl should he win the toss what real difference does missing half a days play really make?

Today it is down to the players to apply their 'skills' in the appropriate manner.

Is it?

What other club would let their coach take part in a fun run during a competitive fixture?

I don't know but as I also said today will be down to the players as the preparation would have been completed before today and he will probably be there before tea so what real difference does it make?

Larry will have to get his skates on if he wants to see any of this fixture. Perhaps he should divert up the A13?

One can only hope that Mr Grayson was running to raise money to fund the signing of a decent overseas player. That would (just about) justify him missing the first day of the season.

Still, plenty of time to ponder this year's excuses while jogging around the capital.

I'd have sponsored his severance package.

Maybe it's time to get the EGM ball rolling again.

I can't believe the club are perpetrating this kind of amateurish crap.

I can.

Even by their standards this is a new low.

I doubt any other sports club anywhere in the world would let the coach go for a glorified jog whilst his team is playing.

Like you being an inveterate apologist for the worst coach on the county circuit.

If an EGM is called I'll sign on the dotted line.

I don't pretend to know how to run a professional cricket club but sure as hell the bozos in charge don't either.
