That Pakistani Leg spinner...
« on: April 10, 2014, 04:46:39 PM »
...seems to think he's been hard done by and is taking the ECB to the commercial courts. Seems upset that Westfield is back in club cricket.

Of course, MW did do 2 months in gaol. What's the betting the ECB folds and that Pakistani is back plying his trade on the international circuit? If so, any suggestions for welcoming him back into the fold????

Hmmm ...I may of course be wrong but I was and am uncomfortable about the whole episode. I have *some* sympathy for DK and he is of course correct that MW is now able to play cricket again for a living whilst DK cannot.

I know what you mean, Nat, they couldn't make any charges stick except for MWs own confession. We know that DK has blood on his hands, he's been warned previously about his 'friends' after all. Seemingly either he was too canny to say too much in the dressing room, plus the usual inertia at the club to be proactive, means that he will look like the injured party. Expect to see him in an IPL team soon...

The irony being, had Kaneira also faced a criminal prosecution, he would have been acquitted. Uncorroborated evidence from a co-accused does not constitute admissable evidence.

I'll bear this in mind.

The way things have gone he would have been better off being convicted!

Does that apply to non-internationals? I've checked and no mention of this for 2014.

In an interview with Mohammed Hafeez published in February, Cricinfo reported:

"Hafeez represented Kolkata Knights Riders in the inaugural IPL season in 2008, but Pakistan players have not been allowed in the tournament since the Mumbai terror attacks in 2008 which strained relations between the two nations."

Kaneria is Hindu though.

If he received clearance he might be picked up on that basis.

At least there's no 'amusement' parks and busloads of daytrippers with kiss me quick head attire there, only the golf course and a better class of beach huts. ;D
