If Herr Burns is the next in line after Root, then we are in trouble.

England picked the wrong captain, wrong team and wrong decision at the toss.

Who would you have in the Test team and who would be captain?

Should be an interesting day today but I expect England to win. They seem to have the knack of getting out of trouble. Not many test teams score over 175 on the last day to win.

I'd make WI marginal favourites  but if we can get an extra 30-40 runs this morning IMHO it's be 50:50. The pitch is helpful for bowlers but doesn't appear to have really deteriorated, unfortunately

VG day of real Test cricket yesterday, even if there were some rusty players - and umpires - out there and it wasn't the same without a live audience. A few thoughts:
- Zak Crawley's a  shoo-in for number 3 next test. Denley's done a decent, gritty, job but Crawley looks class
- Buttler's a good keeper and, I understand, a VG judge on when to appeal an ump's decision (unlike Bairstow!), but he's been found out as a Test batsman. I'd much prefer Foakes.
- If Dom Sibley could learn to play the sweep he'd be much more effective against the tweakers. As it is, he'd struggle against a class spin attack

Agree with OHB, Buttler's technique isn't up to Test standard, Foakes is the best long term bet as 'keeper, anything over 200 today will be tough, we will need a couple of early wickets especially Brathwaite who does have patience & ability to stay at the crease a long time, also have a couple of stroke players but they may crack/panic under pressure. In any event it should be an exciting day.

Sadly Denly days are numbered, looks OK without getting the scores . One Joe in for another .
Crawley looked and bats  very similar to Lawrence . Losing so many wickets in the last period yesterday have put England on the back foot, has batting until lunch would have a bearing on Windies chancing a bigger target in lesser time and overs.
Windies the favourites, not sure wicket is turning enough for Bess to take enough wickets.

I fear that Broad not playing could be key.  I'd be far more hopeful with him in the team.  He has previous in these situations.

From their teatime position, 58 runs needed with 6 wickets left, WI have gotta be hot favourites.

Poor fielding has cost us big time.

How is it that Blackwood only ever scores any runs against England?  He always seems to need a lot of luck to do well when I've every seen him play.  He averages 55 in 14 innings against England and 24 in 37 innings against everyone else.

Drop Wood, Buttler. Bring in Foakes and Broad...and Root of course. Add Leach and Parkinson to the squad for consideration. That's just for starters.

Mainly because we bowl short to him. Not what a west indian would expect and be used to.
