Weather forecast not promising though!

Not looking good for Friday either.  Both could be washouts.  Move us further up the list!

Most washouts in T20 2003-19:
12 Chester-le-Street, Cardiff
11 Worcester
9 Chelmsford, Southampton
8 Leicester, Northampton
7 Old Trafford
6 Leeds, Derby
5 Edgbaston
4 Taunton, Hove, Trent Bridge
2 Bristol
1 The Oval, Chesterfield, Lord's, Canterbury.

They'll be desperate to get a 5 over game in if they can though.

Tonight is what will hurt. No matter how badly the team plays people will still turn up. A wash out will mean refunds all round.

That is the only thing they understand. A punch in the wallet.

The trouble is this isn't a situation of Essex's making & if Friday is also off then we will have lost 3 of our games to the weather & a sizeable chunk of our income for this year, I don't suppose we can insure against rain losses so what with refunds etc we will lose out heavily. As for qualifying we need to win 4 of 5 now minimum.

Not according to this

“Also, it has a big impact on us financially,” he admitted. “But you also have to look at the damaging side, you have all the outside caterers for example who suffer big time and that’s a worry to us because they rely on us for a good evening.

“It’s also the impact around everybody, the members and supporters who have come along wanting to see some cricket, so they are fed up. It does have a knock-on effect.

“Yes, it does have a hit on us financially and it is difficult. To have what should be a big night of cricket in Chelmsford just fizzling out like a damp firework is so frustrating.

Well put a roof over the ground or cover the whole playing area. It's 2019 for goodness sake. We've put men on the moon, flown to Mars.

Nat.  Given that they took 100 years to get a roof for the tennis courts in Wimbledon, I doubt this is going to happen even at a small ground like Chelmsford! Mind you, the Millennium Dome is big enough for T20...

That is what it has been like watching us in T20 the last 2/3 years!
