Flooding at County Ground
« on: February 21, 2014, 03:43:34 PM »
Slightly random question I know, does the county ground ever suffer from any flooding??  I know we have the river near by and with all the recent awful weather thought just crossed my mind.

It was ok when I called in last Wednesday and the big marquee in which they do some pre-season training was up. However, not a sod has been turned (if I may use such an expression) on the development. Whether that's because of the weather or yet another of these seemingly endless contractual delays I wouldn't know............

Don't give them ideas, postman.
Expect to see; ground redevelopment delayed due to the wettest winter since 1765 making its belated appearance on the Club website this coming Monday morning! ;)

What with Stuart and his magnificent ground staff , plus the efficacious blotters (£1000 each to replace)  - not to mention the state of the arts outfield 'puddle-sucker' ? Not a chance.

Of course the Chelmer - even if it were to burst its banks - being considerably lower than the ground also greatly helps to evade that scenario.

Never mind that will our notoriously brittle top 5 manage 1765 runs between them?

Poor New Road is under water again but they are still expecting to hold their AGM on Monday.

The outfield looked in great condition today...at least looking from the pavillon.

Do they still have the state-of-the-art burny box thing to dry up wet patches? I remember a few happy days spent watching that in action at the County Ground.
