I'd settle for that. Plus a lick of paint
Will a lick of paint mask the reek from the bogs?
If we are just lumbered with some tower blocks as the sum total of the redevelopment the entire Committee should resign in shame.
Basically the redevelopment was the vanity project of the "Fat Controller" The Pavilion will be a white elephant and the seating at the river end reduced.
So yes sort out the toilets, tart up the ground and leave it at that
No replacement pavilion is going to be built. Frankly, considering it was based on a twenty-odd year old design from the Riverside in Durham, probably just as well.
Let's look at the facts, not the ECCC hype organ. This 'redevelopment' was launched to self satisfied acclaim from the Club themselves in 2008. In the interim, not a foundation has been excavated, not a single brick has been laid, according to eye witness reports and absence from typical hyped fanfare from the Club. Who seem to think a section of temporary tip-up seating being relocated from one corner of the ground is akin to a stunning Rod Sheard Populous created stadium.
No Change Essex have provided deliberately misleading and opaque information on this vanity project, when any has been forthcoming at all. They have failed to produce any drawings/elevations of any of the actual spectator accommodation, despite being pressed to do so, for at least a year. Now, they appear to have quietly forgotten about the whole project.
Knowing how our beloved Club operate, this is hardly any great shock. Maybe if DE was still around he would be a little more expansive...?
Unfortunately, this is a by-product of our collective inability to stage an EGM and campaign for change. How on earth they continue to propagate this ongoing confidence trick is staggering.
