If the total redevelopment doesn't go ahead then we must surely push for T20 games (2/3 v Sorry, Kent & Middx) to be played at Stratford to hopefully attract bigger crowds. If we don't then revenue from home games obviously won't rise which in turn might well affect the quality of O/s players we sign for the Tournament.

Middlesex's double header at Lords could be a model to follow with Stratford. I shall be intrigued to see how it goes. My son and I will be going - £30 for the two of us for 2 T20 games strikes me as excellent value

How about an off with their double header?

I'd settle for that. Plus a lick of paint

Will a lick of paint mask the reek from the bogs?

If we are just lumbered with some tower blocks as the sum total of the redevelopment the entire Committee should resign in shame.

Basically the redevelopment was the vanity project of the "Fat Controller" The Pavilion will be a white elephant and the seating at the river end reduced.

So yes sort out the toilets, tart up the ground and leave it at that

No replacement pavilion is going to be built. Frankly, considering it was based on a twenty-odd year old design from the Riverside in Durham, probably just as well.
Let's look at the facts, not the ECCC hype organ. This 'redevelopment' was launched to self satisfied acclaim from the Club themselves in 2008. In the interim, not a foundation has been excavated, not a single brick has been laid, according to eye witness reports and absence from typical hyped fanfare from the Club. Who seem to think a section of temporary tip-up seating being relocated from one corner of the ground is akin to a stunning Rod Sheard Populous created stadium.

No Change Essex have provided deliberately misleading and opaque information on this vanity project, when any has been forthcoming at all. They have failed to produce any drawings/elevations of any of the actual spectator accommodation, despite being pressed to do so, for at least a year. Now, they appear to have quietly forgotten about the whole project.
Knowing how our beloved Club operate, this is hardly any great shock. Maybe if DE was still around he would be a little more expansive...?
Unfortunately, this is a by-product of our collective inability to stage an EGM and campaign for change. How on earth they continue to propagate this ongoing confidence trick is staggering.

Given that clubs with 'more expansive' development schemes have been bailed out by their local councils, maybe this is not such as bad result.

The ECB rather foolishly encouraged expansion by clubs just before 2008 financial crisis: hence they are now paying clubs £1m to stop them going bust. This is why I don't buy the McLaurin dismissive attitude towards counties, because the ECB has caused a crisis.

Nevertheless, a carefully staged, sustainably funded, development programme could have been followed between 2008-2013 rather than the carefully-staged and unbelievable PR campaign...

I thought the only place he was expansive was around the midriff.

Last November Bowden told the members forum there would be a consultation in the new year over new plans for the Pavilion and rest of the ground.

Since then not a word.

The rather more concrete (sorry about pun) worry is that the whole thing has to date cost at least £500k of the club's money and who knows how many hours of management time.

I reckon you could have got quite a lot of building work for £500k. And it would have been done by now

I'm surprised that you are surprised. Isn't this the modus operandi from No Change Essex?
I'd be more inclined to take the word of next doors' cat!

Did I say I was surprised?

I don't take anyone's word but but do try to hold them to account. This is probably better than just making snide remarks as SOME on here do.
