Cow corner

Only Essex would trumpet a worse view as being a big deal worth shouting about.

Then again they've been getting away with selling pups for years ...

Presumably the marquee housing the members restaurant will now move into the gap beside the pavilion? No obvious logic to it all, besides adding 100 seats for T20. Or is it one small step in the redevelopment? The club has been awfully quiet on this front - the last press release was almost 6 months ago.

To be honest, I can't understand why this hasn't happened before.  We should have proper stands around the entire Hayes Close end.

Ain't it obvious?  Larry has obviously not approved the plans.  ;D

Can Larry even read?

He certainly can't read between the lines.

Not enough room and sight screens/Sky gantry would obscure a large amount of seats.

With current scrutiny placed upon over development on flood plains and next to rivers, it may be that Essex CCC's contribution to the later may be revisited by local and national planning authorities and agencies. The Club redevelopment was another in a long line of ill conceived, poorly thought through schemes, that were concocted by that cosy little club masquerading as the Cricket Committee, to provide, in this instance, a lasting legacy- (vanity project)- to the tenure of a certain D. East.
I would also suggest that for a Club that brags and seemingly publicises the slightest little thing, the silence on this is deafening!

My guess is the 3 prosaic tower blocks on the former car park will probably be constructed, then the redevelopment will cease. The County Ground will limp on in much its current form....much like the Club itself.

So Larry won't get a nice new dressing room to hide in?

The heart bleeds ...

If you took your Larry blinkers off you might realise that not improving the player facilities will not improve our chances of attracting players when competing for their signature against another county.

That would be a good point well made if the club didn't insist on signing mugs.

The club can only sign those players that agree to come.

We could have a dressing room with gold fittings & I still think we'd end up with the likes of Saj Mahmood on the books.

I'd settle for that. Plus a lick of paint

Will a lick of paint mask the reek from the bogs?

If we are just lumbered with some tower blocks as the sum total of the redevelopment the entire Committee should resign in shame.

With other clubs having financial issues at the moment, at least in the short term we might be a little more attractive.  Of course, if the likes of Sussex don't go under, then we might look a little less attractive.

Personally I'd like to see us grow our own where possible, with the occasional David Masters recruitment.
