With the news that he has left the England tour as, in the words of Giles "he is not selectable at the moment" the question has to be asked; how much has coaching furthered his career?

Surely if you take that logic to its extreme all coaches are superfluous to requirements?

Of course Larry aspires to being superfluous.

He's an active impediment.

Not so. It is  a matter of *what* coaching is done. Most people progress by trial/error or trying out things. Coaching should be the 'icing on the top of the cake'. An oft' repeated comment but...
...
Malinga would never have played top level cricket in England and there are hundreds of other 'Malinga's out there.

Malinga would never have played top level cricket in England  - I should have added "if he was English".

Yet another separate issue/question that you have managed to bring Larry in to so that you can slag him off.
You really do have some sort of complex.

Yet another separate issue

Pull the other one.

Admittedly you disguised it well but this is another of your patented Grayson Defence League threads.

No; you can be paranoid. There may some reason for it, though.

George Dobel's article noted how many county managers lamented at how their young quicks go off to Team England and return bowling 25 kph slower and with their lost rhythm. Of course, nothing to do with the coaching of course, as coaches have no impact whatsoever...

Again, questions have to be asked about the tour party selection

- Trotty goes home with mental problems, after a poor summer. No "plan B" to hand hence the endless Bell/Root at 3 debate, probably to the detriment of both
- A half- fit Bresnan joins the tour half way through
- Swanny leaves half way through
- Monty picked after a poor season and off the field problems, then hardly plays
- Despite Matty P#s poor summer wit the bat, no proper reserve keeper, just a tried-ad-failed batsman who can "pick up the gloves in an emergency"
- Now Finn goes - should he ever have been picked? Especially when Graham Onions was left at home after a great season.

Now I know selectors are only human and some mistakes are always made, but this Charge Sheet ......

Just as well Miller's on his bike already!

Who were the other selectors involved in this fiasco?

'Shared Responsibility' is no responsibility.
