So long as he's back mid-March and raring to go!

To the IPL?

Or is Larry going to put his foot down as promised?

Don't laugh at the back ...

As the old proverb goes: If you spend too long thinking about putting your foot down, you tend to topple over.

Having been to members forum it seems Grayson is prepared to be without anybody who can get an ipl contract. He acts as if it is inevitable. Good excuse when we fail next year, "we were missing some really good players".

Spot on! This is what ECCC believe is their fail safe excuse, so however poorly they perform it can always be written off, at least to those gullible enough to believe the Club's spin.
They would gain respect from me if they actually announced a policy on players disappearing off to IPL, rather than waiting to see what proactive and confident counties do, then belatedly jumping on their bandwagon, (see Notts. stance last season), but actually have no intention of doing anything. As has become clear the Club are terrified of their *stars* leaving if their opportunity to play IPL is refused.

Don't forget the club also get a kickback on IPL contracts.

That must cover the G&T budget & then some.

Well, if Ravi wants to be captain, as he apparently does, he'd better forget about the IPL. Even if it's "only" for one-day games he's got to be about all the time!

"we were missing some really good players".

One could be forgiven in a bygone era if that excuse were rolled out for the likes of Lever, Gooch, McKewan et al, but Tendoeschate, Bopara, Shah ::)
