T20 Prices
« on: December 03, 2013, 02:19:36 PM »
I understand there will be almost no unreserved seating at t20 next season. Therefore members who want a seat are forced to pay £18 per match instead of £11. Non members must pay £29 (or £23 to sit on the grass). This ammounts to a £49 Surcharge for member. The 50% members discount is now only 40%

This has slipped out almost unannounced, and was not mentioned at the last members forum

Just discovered this hidden away under Tickets / FAQ

Q: Why have the NatWest T20 Blast tickets gone up in price?

Yes that is correct however we have listened to the feedback from our Members and supporters and have taken the decision to reduce our capacity at these sell out games.

Most importantly by purchasing a reserved seat you are 100% guaranteed an allocated seat for the first time, with less people at The Essex County Ground we are looking to make the atmosphere more family friendly.

The reduced capacity will also help reduce the queues for you to stay refreshed and to pop to the toilet or to one of our Retail Outlets.

A VERY limited amount of ground entrance tickets will be made available in Spring 2014 – however these will NOT include a seat and will be standing only tickets.

In addition a number of reserved and allocated seats will be available on the Grass Area

There is more and most of its bollocks and a cover for putting members t20 tickets up 64%.

Thanks a lot Danny

I'm now minded to give the Cochester game a miss and just go to the away double header game at Lords. As a London commuter with an annual rail ticket it's cheaper to get to and probably just as quick from Hockley. I feel a bit let dwon by this.

so as well as thinking long and hard about my membership and probably not likely to renew, i now, having read that, will definitely not be attending any T20 which is a shame as the sunday afternoon game last year was excellent and my 6 and 4 years old first taste of cricket.  There is no way i'm paying £29, which i would point out is hardly family friendly.  This isn't going to stop people getting drunk during the game and if you want to stand there are still ground entrance tickets available anyway.

I agree with you about Sundays, it was a good day out.

Your right about the drunks, but with a guaranteed seat, they will do their drinking in the town before hand. I used to arrive at 5pm to save a seat and could have 3 pints and a burger in the pavillion by 7pm.
Next year I'll do my drinking and eating in the Ivory Peg to recoup the extra £7

Sussex was definitely the best (friendliest & most relaxed) atmosphere for the T20 matches this year, I thought it would have made sense for the ECB to give every County a Sunday home T20 but we are talking the ECB here...
The drinkers seldom sit down , they stand at the back getting louder as the game progresses, occasionally shouting an obscenity or some inane comment in between slipping off for refills every 15/20 minutes.

I have recently been sent a copy of the Members magazine, ' The Essex Cricketer.' Having looked at the ticket prices for next year ( page 27), I was amazed to discover that for the T20 game at Colchester, they are charging £15 for Juniors ( public) for a guaranteed seat but £18 for Junior Members! I subsequently phoned the ticket office to clarify and they are now investigating! ....By the way these prices are 3 times what most other counties charge for Juniors!

Wouldn't be the only mistake in the magazine. The prices for life membership look very suspicious - cheaper for a 47yo than a 50yo!

No point in continuing this thread as any comments re.T20 pricing won't get an answer here because of the Club's imperative that representatives of Essex CCC aren't allowed to post on this forum, excepting on the Official Q&A section. So please refer any other comments re. T20 tickets to there

As the decision to hold a T20 match at the Colchester Festival has aroused strong feelings , anyone wanting to continue that discussion should begin a new thread. Cheers
