v SURREY NEXT WEEK
« on: July 25, 2014, 02:41:21 PM »
Apolgies if its been dealt with elsewhere, but can anyone confirm where the 2nd XI are actually playing Surrey next week? The Essex website has both matches showing as "Dulwich College" whereas the Surrey website has the championship match at Charterhouse School and the Trophy match as being at "Sunbury House". I was also told earlier in the week that the Trophy match was being played at Purley.

Any help gratefully received.

Believe charterhouse and Sunbury are the correct venues.

Perhaps the plan is to confuse Saj so he turns up at the wrong venue. ;)

The Essex website also shows the 50 over games start at 12 o'clock, but they always start at 11am.

I fell foul of that earlier in the season at Radlett. Got to the ground at about 12:30 to see the score was something like 60 for 6. I thought I'd missed an exceptional half an hour.

For Coggeshall the website clearly said 12 noon. However the word round the ground the night before was that it would be 11am. Rang County office and was told by an officer person that “she’d check the website....yes 12 noon". Told the office person that the “word on the ground” was 11, and was then told ... “well, you’d best get there then, then”!
So arrived at about 11.15 to find two wickets were down already!

In the end I had a day at Charterhouse and also saw most of the Trophy game at Sunbury.

Championship match drawn, having lost most of the first day. Highlights were Browne's undefeated 202 and Velani's 115.

We lost the trophy match by 5 wickets today with abut 15 overs to spare, Panesar top scored with 56 not out, batting at number 7.
