Watched a reasonable amount of the game at Radlett this week. Not over impressed. Nijjar was the standout bowler again with a match 10fer. He should play next week in the 1XI vs Slurry and at Somerset for the last game of the season. He is visibly stagnating in the 2XI.
The batting is a real concern. Walter batted well first up but has now got a dodgy digit. Patel got a big hundred in the first innings (Helm didn't bowl) but couldn't handle Tom Helm in the second innings. Helm was excellent today and none of the main Essex batsmen could get a bat on it. Only the Middx management will know why he wasn't in their 1XI. Our batting reserves are very thin whereas Middx seem to have much deeper pool of batting talent (their 1XI batsmen should be nervous).
