I attended Coggeshall on Tuesday and Wednesday but felt the proceedings were a little flat compared to previous years - the crowd on those two days was noticeably down, no doubt not having a county playing and the schools not being out had some bearing.
MCC Young Cricketers did reasonably well but Essex were always in control.
You get the feeling that Essex really do not want spectators at the Second XI games, they seem to be moving them further afield each year, dropped Halstead as an example - interesting that committee members like Keith Fletcher, David Acfield, Graham Saville, John Childs + a few others who usually attend were not present when I was there, is that an ominous sign for the Coggeshall week next year I wonder?
Great shame the last two days were rain affected.
