« on: June 11, 2015, 06:48:51 PM »
Matt Prior announces his retirement from cricket due to achilies injury . Highest Test average (40 ) for a England keeper with over 100 dismissals .Originally a batsman come keepers no became a decent keeper and always gave 100% for the cause .
Remember him also scoring a large century for Sussex at the Castle Park .

some of the absolute best have been, seems to go with the territory, though you can also be an arsehole and be what comes out of it. Anyone what to suggest names of great England players who were notoriously chippy, rude, selfish etc?

Botham was notoriously a bully. Boycott notoriously selfish.

Both am had a boorish personality that included throwing his team mates into hotel swimming pools. However, he never did that to Peter Willey who threatened to hold Beefy under the water for a couple of hours.

A fine batsman who generally made Essex suffer when he played T20 against us, not the best W/K although he improved a lot, good team player although I believe he upset a few at Sussex by his attitude. I'm sure he'll be successful in his new career, he didn't get on with The Ego - not that bad a thing in my book!!

I too heard that Willey was the one person who Botham never tried to bully. Strong as an Ox apparently.

That's why they only ever seemed to pick him to face the Windies: he didn't bleed so much and get upset at the odd broken bone.
