I thought there was going to be a car park as part of the development. Or is that one of those features that changes over time?
The "car park as part of the development" will also form part of the parking allocation for the apartment dwellers, so you can envisage the likely conflict.
If the original plans, released some six years ago now are to be believed, a multi-storey car park will be constructed on the site of the former council owned car-park on New Writtle Street, adjacent to ECCC's main entrance.
As the massing of the apartment blocks will be such that there will be insufficient space for residents of said Vanity Project to all park at ground level, especially at the River End aspect of the development, they will gain use to the multi-storey car park. This all assumes, of course, that is structure is ever built. I can only see a trade off between a
limited number of those available spaces being alloted, on a first-come-first served to cricket patrons - undoubtedly at a charge. I'd suggest 30-35% as a guideline.
I wonder if this is another aspect of this development the Club will be using their promised consultative process for?
