Chat With The Chairman
« on: June 24, 2021, 03:37:24 PM »
After last weeks A.G.M. I decided to write in via the membership and ticketing office to make a couple of observations regarding it.

The Chairman opted to ring me today in reply to my queries, as he thought that my major point regarding cricket questions answered by a member of the committee, could have been dealt with better in respect of clarification purposes.

However it was quite clear to me that whilst he is chairman, the best interests of the club will be served. He is, plus the committee are open to constructive comment and will take on board any points members wish to raise that will help move the club forward. Sometimes though decisions are taken out of the clubs control, attendance levels this season being one of them.

Other points of interest during this chat, was that the club have had initial discussions with a player to join us next season.  In respect of overseas players the preferred choice is one that is coming to end of his international career, rather than one who is at the start or in the middle of it.  The reason being, is because the authorities at the club want someone that's going to add value in the dressing room in addition to the pitch.

Apart from a new C.E.O. it now appears that we will be having a new membership and ticketing manager, as Rowan is moving on to pastures new.

Nice touch of him to ring you, fair play.

I understand his reasoning regarding the overseas argument from a dressing room standpoint (although I suspect cost is the more likely reason), but I maintain that a world class player who hasn't yet been sucked in by the IPL (Cameron Green, yes him again), would represent a far better option.

I think the club also wish to avoid a scenario where the overseas is called up by a country for touring or training purposes during our summer as well.
