Sorry, but I don't buy that.

Most other clubs have secured overseas for the run in, we haven't.

Other clubs have manged to secure a signing...........Derby, Gloucester, Lanky, Notts, Yorkshire, Kent, Warwicks, Surrey.

Players are available.

I'm so frustrated we haven't and pretending we have no money is a joke.

Come on Essex,,,,,,,,,show some fight.

No doubt we will sign some overseas girl that no one has heard of next and no one will ever go to watch.

Priorities have gone I'm very sad so say.

We're not getting an (decent) O/S player at such short notice even if we had the money. The team has been getting old together with insufficient succession planning.

The problem is that. The overseas player, will demand to see the money. Before he even enters the airport.

Good luck Daren in your new role.

If you have any influence, can you please make it clear to the powers that be that we desperately need an overseas signing for the last four championship matches.

I don't think that men's red ball cricket is a high priority for the club, but we are now looking down a barrel.

We need help!

Other clubs have managed to secure players, so it isn't a cash issue.

Please help us stay in Division 1.

My nomination for the sweepstake is nine months.

That is when Daren Mootoo resigns from the committee. Totally exasperated at most of the other members and realising that nothing will change.

The outground excuses don't wash.

Middlesex & Sussex don't have the proverbial pot to urinate in but they manage.

Middlesex dont really have a choice

DM- thanks for the update.
My perception is that the club is complacent, off the field (which ultimately affects on field performance) there is a lack of drive to improve.

Aside from ground re-development, where once again, there are no definite timelines, what is the club doing to encourage children to attend matches? Did you see how few children there were in attendance at the current game? In the school holidays!

I sense the club is drifting with no strategy.

Convince me I'm wrong.

Quite maybe Daren can push for change. We are back to the east/Hilliard/Grayson says it feels a bit ( although not yet as bad on the pitch) Off the field incompetence and drift reflected in a coach being allowed to underperform for years. It took Ronnie and JF to shake things up and then Stan as well and Bowden to an extent. They held people to account didn't accept crap and got things done and drove change. The guys in charge now is somewhat out of his depth.

Yes we have no money due to greedy chancers and a KC who got so far due to DEI only who fleeced is, but no excuse for the drift and little things.

The out ground book, is an historical record of the cricket. Not current affairs, as this for any important competition. Has now passed.

If that's the case say so & don't dissemble.

So Das is on a career break. The same as female staff who used to go on a five-year career break. Which should have re-titled resignation.

Men can take 5 year career breaks too - I know several who did whilst their wives went back to work after having a baby.
